We have started our Solar Carport Project with EMCOR and the Archdiocese Construction Department.
We have significantly improved our school building and roof with a fresh coat of paint and repairs. We are now working with EMCOR, a leading engineering and design company, to create solar carports to benefit the parish and the school. We are finalizing an agreement with Edison, our power provider, before we submit our plans to the City of Arcadia. This project involves many steps and takes time, but we are confident it will be worth it.
We are excited to share some updates on our ongoing projects at the church. Your continued support has made these initiatives possible, and we appreciate your patience as we work towards enhancing our facilities.
Church Basement Waterproofing
Update as of April 19, 2024
The waterproofing project for the church basement is nearing completion, and we have made significant progress. The process has included excavating the surrounding soil, restoring the exterior wall integrity, and applying a robust waterproofing sealant. A high-performance underlayment has been installed to ensure maximum protection. Following this, we refilled the soil and cemented the pathway leading to the basement door.
Currently, we are in the process of refurbishing the stucco. The next step will involve reinstating the asphalt we removed during excavation. Additionally, a new water line has been laid out to facilitate the future installation of a drip irrigation system. Finally, we’ll be planting native plants that thrive with minimal watering
Update as of April 15, 2024
We are pleased to share that significant strides have been made in our church basement waterproofing project. The exterior walls have been thoroughly inspected and cleaned, cracks have been filled, a waterproofing coating has been applied, and a high-performance underlayment has been installed.
Inside the basement, we have positioned a sump pump a foot below the floor level. We have also replaced and compacted the soil around the exterior. A concrete walkway leading to the basement door has been constructed. Our immediate next step involves completing the asphalt work. We anticipate the completion of this project within the coming week.
Upon the successful conclusion of the waterproofing project, we will proceed to restore the irrigation system and refurbish the landscaping. We deeply appreciate your patience and support during this period. Thank you.
Thank you for being part of our capital campaign and helping us create a better space for everyone. We look forward to sharing more progress updates soon!
Update as of April 8, 2024
Currently, we are undertaking an extensive exterior waterproofing project. This involves excavating the soil around the foundation to reveal the exterior walls, which we meticulously inspect for any signs of damage, such as cracks or holes. All identified issues are being quickly fixed. Waterproofing the church basement is crucial to safeguard against moisture problems and preserve the building’s structural integrity.
After the repairs, we will apply a waterproof coating to the exterior wall. Additionally, we are installing a sump pump one foot beneath the church basement to effectively manage any excess water in the long term. Once these measures are in place, we will refill the excavated area with soil and restore the landscaping and irrigation systems.
Our goal with this exterior waterproofing is to provide a durable solution that tackles the underlying causes of water infiltration, an issue we have faced for many years. This proactive approach secures the interior spaces and fortifies the church’s foundation against future damage.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused during this process and appreciate your understanding as we take the necessary steps to protect our beloved place of worship.
Update as of March 23, 2024
We have recently signed a contract with Vancrest to waterproof our church basement. The excavation work is scheduled to begin during the week of April 1, 2024. Our goal is to address water infiltration into the basement promptly while minimizing any impact on our services. After years of dealing with this issue, we are finally taking decisive action.
Solar Carport Project:
Update as of April 15, 2024
We have essential updates on the Solar Carport Project. The City of Arcadia has completed its review of our zoning and design plans.
Our initial proposal included two carports: one covering the accessible parking spaces by the Gathering Center and another covering a row of general parking spaces.
City Feedback: According to their planning records, the city indicated that our proposed locations may span two separate lots.
Design Revision: In response, our design team will propose a single, more extended carport covering one row of parking spaces (as shown in the above image). This change ensures the project remains within one lot.
We're working closely with the design team to develop a revised drawing. We'll continue to share updates on the solar project.
Thank you for being part of our capital campaign and helping us create a better space for everyone. We look forward to sharing more progress updates soon!
Update as of April 1, 2024
We have submitted architectural drawings for the solar carport project to the City of Arcadia. Currently, we are awaiting their feedback and comments. EMCOR, our vendor, will soon place orders for solar panels and necessary supplies. Our anticipated start date for construction is June 26, 2024. Once the solar carports are complete, we will proceed with repairing our parking lot. We appreciate your understanding during this process.
Gathering Center Proposal:
We are eagerly awaiting a proposal for the gathering center. Our plans include repairs to the pillars, gutter upgrades, improved lighting, and a fresh coat of paint for the gathering center.
Phone and Internet Upgrades
We have successfully upgraded our phone and Internet systems, and our staff is learning to use the new phone features.
Your continued support ensures that these enhancements will benefit our entire community.

Campaign Prayer
God of love and God of life,
We thank You for your blessings.
Especially the gift of life and the gift of faith.
Father, give us wisdom and courage
and guide us as we call Your family
here in Los Angeles to renewal.
Help us to raise up a new generation of missionary disciples to proclaim the good news of Your mercy and to serve our
brothers and sisters in need.
Fill us with Your Spirit,
that we might call Your sons and daughters
to be priests and deacons and consecrated religious to dedicate their lives to You;
that we might call Your Church to bring healing
to the sick and love to the poor and those in prison; that we might call our young people
to seek Your beautiful plan for their lives.
Father, give us all new excitement to follow Jesus
and to serve You with all our hearts and all our strength. Increase our faith and give us confidence to offer You our gifts, our talents and our treasure —
that we might find our true treasure in heaven with You.
Trusting in the tender love of our Blessed Mother,
Queen of the Angels, we ask all this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
