1 Scout Sunday
Celebrating Scout Sunday Holy Angels Church joyfully celebrates Scout Sunday on February 1 at the 11:00 a.m. Mass, welcoming all boys and girls in Scouting as we honor the movement’s 1910 founding and its commitment to living out “Duty to God” and the Scout Law’s call that “A Scout is Reverent.” This celebration highlights the values that shape young people in their families, parish, and community, and includes recognition of Scouts who have completed the Religious Emblem program. Individual Scouts or groups wishing to participate may contact Mary Rovarino, and those receiving their Roman Catholic Religious Emblem are invited to email her at maryrovarino@gmail.com.
| 2 Candlemas
Feast of the Presentation of the Lord February 2 marks the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, traditionally known as Candlemas, the day on which candles are blessed as a sign of Christ, the Light of the World. We will have home sets of two blessed candles available for parishioners. If you would like a set for your home, a donation of $10.00 is requested for each box of two candles. Candles will be available after the 8:30 AM Mass.
| 3 Blessing of Throats - Memorial of St. Blaise
The blessing of throats will take place during the 8:30 AM Mass on Tuesday, February 3. This beloved custom dates back to the 16th century, though St. Blaise himself lived in the fourth century. St. Blaise was the Bishop of Sebaste in Armenia and is remembered for miraculously saving a boy who was choking on a fish bone. Because of this, he is honored as the patron saint of those with throat illnesses. All are invited to attend the 8:30 AM Mass on February 3 and receive the traditional blessing of throats—a beautiful sign of God’s loving care for His people.
