The custom began in the 16th century, although Blaise lived in the fourth century. He was the bishop of Sebaste in Armenia who, according to legend, saved the life of a boy who was choking on a fish bone. He is now the patron saint of all who have diseases of the throat. 13 Wedding Anniversary Mass
Our Annual Anniversary Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, Feb. 13 at the 9:00am Mass for couples celebrating a wedding anniversary in 2022 with the years ending in “5” or “0” (such as 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.) and all years over 50. We would like to specially honor these couples at Mass; so if you are celebrating a special anniversary this year and will attend this Mass, please call the Rectory at 626-447-1671 and submit your name*. Candlemas

Wednesday, February 2, is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world. Our altar candles will be blessed that day and we will also have Home Sets of 2 candles that will be blessed.
If you would like a Home Set of Candles, a donation of $5.00 is asked for each box of 2 candles. Supplies are limited – candles will be available on Feb. 2 after the 8:30am Mass and in the rectory office.
